When it comes to building an e-commerce site, the selection of a cart system plays a crucial role. Whether opting for a cloud-based or packaged solution, and to what degree customization is pursued, profoundly impacts the potential customer experiences and the associated development costs.
We conducted a consultative process for Medicus Shuppan focused on extracting the core objectives of their e-commerce aspirations. Leveraging our expertise in e-commerce development, we provided guidance to determine the most suitable cart solution aligned with their needs.
Redefining e-commerce redesign goals before comparing cart specifications
Many e-commerce redesign initiatives stem from operational challenges faced by management. These challenges often involve optimizing order fulfillment processes or introducing more flexible order cancellation policies.
However, rather than immediately diving into a comparison of cart specifications to address these management-centric issues, it's also crucial to approach them from the user's perspective. The key lies in understanding the value that these changes can bring to customers. To achieve this, we visualized the system through comprehensive diagrams and wireframes, fostering discussions to precisely define the redesign's requirements.
Refining requirements selection for enhanced budget precision and cost-effectiveness
As we outlined our goals for the EC site, considering both operational and customer perspectives, the list of requirements naturally grew. It's important to note that there isn't a one-size-fits-all shopping cart solution that can meet every demand. Hence, prioritization and careful selection became crucial. Leveraging TAM's proprietary PGST methodology, we meticulously organized the intricate web of requirements, leading to a cost-effective estimate that perfectly aligns with our needs and budget.
